After an intense weekend in Eindhoven, I'm back in Paris. Cepandant Finish hotels and chic bistros center. I am at Bob the Builder, to The general , old school Ceramic converted venue and artist residency, style squat. What is nice about Bob is that no matter whether you are at home in Montreal at the factory Groover, in Zelig in the east of the city, in his cottage in St-Médard in Paris or here, we always feel at home. It still lives in a camp atmosphere, where every task of everyday is an adventure in itself. It esten perpetual state of emergency and resistance.
Speaking resistance and chaos, let me tell you a bit of STRP great evening and the long-awaited performance by Aphex Twin, what performance inaudible, unpleasant and disappointing! First, Aphex Twin was performing with Hecker. The two do not seem to play together, the rhythms were shifted. Moreover, they had decided to put in solid performance in the ears in a 7.1 sound system. ERROR! The room was 20,000 square feet! The sound bouncing around completely nullified spatialization, giving the impression that everything was playing in time and that any attempt to pace was inevitable offsync . I will not talk ugly visuals, you just have to see in the video below to see for yourself. In short a performance inaudible, assaulting and tasteless, front of a crowd of over 6000 people scattered in two rooms. The show is still just be his time if it is contextualised into a world economic crisis, in which control systems are deficient, leaving the chaos which must be rebuilt. Anti-Music to the max, one can only wonder what sounds will be made to the future of electronic music. This brief also confirms my intuition about the coming obsolescence of the chaotic and esthéque hyperbruyante.
